Child Watch
Child Watch provides on-site supervised care so parents can focus on exercise and wellness while children enjoy safe, age-appropriate play.
Child Watch gives families a convenient care option while parents and guardians use the YMCA. Whether you are working out, attending a group exercise class, swimming, or participating in a Y program, Child Watch provides a safe, supervised space where children can play, explore, and connect with others while remaining close by.
Children enjoy age-appropriate activities such as toys, crafts, coloring, story time, and play-based learning in a welcoming environment led by trained YMCA staff. Child Watch is designed to support the whole family by helping parents prioritize their health and wellness while giving children a positive place to spend time at the Y.
This service is available at both the Shelby County YMCA and the Decatur County Family YMCA. Children may attend Child Watch for up to 2 hours per visit, and parents or guardians must remain on YMCA premises while their child is in care.
What to Expect
Families can expect a caring, play-based environment where children are safe, supported, and engaged. Child Watch staff are trained in CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention, and each space is designed to give kids room to play, make friends, and enjoy supervised activities while their parent or guardian uses the facility.
Shelby County YMCA
Child Watch is available at the Shelby County YMCA for children ages 6 weeks–10 years. Kids can enjoy playtime, activities, and opportunities to make new friends while parents participate in workouts, group exercise classes, or aquatics programs.
Hours: Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM–12:30 PM
Monday–Thursday: 4:30 PM–7:30 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
Monthly Fees: Members: $5 per child | $10 family
Non-members: $15 per child | $25 family
Decatur County Family YMCA
Child Watch is available at the Decatur County Family YMCA for children ages 6 months–10 years. Children enjoy supervised play in a dedicated Child Watch space staffed by team members trained to help create a safe and welcoming environment.
Hours: Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM
Monday–Thursday: 3:00 PM–7:30 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Monthly Fees: Members: $5 per child | $10 family
Non-members: $15 per child | $25 family
