Our Story

At the Decatur County Family YMCA Preschool, we believe that every child deserves a strong start. That is why we have created a nurturing and developmentally rich learning environment where curiosity is encouraged, friendships are formed, and confidence takes root. As a licensed preschool rated Level 3 in Indiana’s Paths to QUALITY system, we are committed to supporting the whole child socially, emotionally, academically, and physically.

Guided by the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, our preschool team walks alongside children and their families to build a foundation that lasts well beyond the classroom. With experienced teachers who are CPR, AED, and First Aid certified, hands-on learning, and personalized attention, we help each child discover new skills and a lifelong love of learning. Every day is filled with playful, meaningful moments that encourage growth and spark joy.

A Place to Learn, Grow, and Belong.

At the Y, early childhood education is more than care - it is an investment in your child’s future.

The Decatur County Family YMCA Preschool provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Backed by the YMCA’s mission and our Level 3 Paths to QUALITY rated preschool program, we help children build a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond.

Our classrooms are designed around hands-on learning, meaningful routines, relationship building, and whole-child development. Through intentional teaching, learning through play, discovery centers, creative activities, and social interaction, children build confidence, independence, communication skills, and a love for learning.

For the 2026–2027 school year, families can choose from flexible preschool and Pre-K options, including morning, afternoon, two-day, three-day, and full-day programming.

2026 - 2027 Registration

For the 2026–2027 school year, the Decatur County Family YMCA Preschool offers flexible options to meet the needs of children and families. Whether your child is beginning their first preschool experience or preparing for kindergarten, our program provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Families can choose from part-time preschool options for children ages 3–4, as well as a full-day Pre-K option for children ages 4–5. Preschool students must be 3 years old by August 1, and Pre-K students must be 4 years old by August 1. Children must also be fully potty trained to enroll.

Our preschool options include morning and afternoon classes, with both two-day and three-day schedules available. These shorter classroom experiences are a great fit for younger learners as they build confidence, practice routines, develop social skills, and begin exploring early academic concepts through play-based learning.

For older preschoolers preparing for kindergarten, our full-day Pre-K program provides a more structured, full-week experience. This option gives children additional time for classroom learning, social-emotional development, hands-on activities, and daily routines that help build independence and kindergarten readiness.
