Our Story and Legacy
Since our founding in 1914, the Decatur County YMCA has been a pillar of community life. Over the decades, we’ve grown, adapted, and innovated, always maintaining one purpose: to serve our neighbors. Whether through swim lessons, youth sports, early childhood education, health classes, or special events, we’ve stood by families through every season of life.
As needs change, we evolve. Today, we serve both Decatur and Shelby counties, with the Decatur County branch in Greensburg acting as the heart of many of our core programs and community services.
Who We Serve
Our doors are open to everyone—families, youth, adults, older adults, and all who seek a place to belong. Our programs are inclusive and designed for all ability levels. Financial assistance is available because cost should never be a barrier to belonging at the Y.
